Favourite rooms in February

As usual, and I am sure like many of you, I have been down the rabbit warren of Instagram and Pinterest and my head is full of gorgeous rooms.  I have a few of my favourite rooms in February to show you, together with why I think these rooms are particularly good.

My favourite living room

Why I love this living room

  • This living room is just classic simplicity at its best.
  • The neutral colour palette works so well as there are lots of different textures from the rug to the rattan in the chairs and accessories, the linen sofas and chairs and the stunning timber ceiling beams.  With just a touch of pale blue, the colour palette is perfect.
  • There is also some great tonal contrast with the accent of the black display cabinet, black curtain rod and mix of timber finishes.  This is important in a neutral scheme to create interest and accents.
  • This gorgeous living room is an updated French Provincial Style which is just lovely.

Why I love this hallway

  • If you want a light and airy scheme, this is the way to achieve it.  The all white palette works beautifully with the detailed panelling on the walls and ceilings which works to create interest in a simple colour palette.
  • The pale oak floor works perfectly and bounces the natural light around the space.
  • I love the relaxed bench seating and the gorgeous greenery which brings a laid back touch to what could otherwise be a very formal space.  The rug works perfectly too.

My favourite home office

Why I love this home office

  • I do love a desk by a window.  If you place your laptop here it would hardly feel like working.
  • The built in cabinetry and shelving is perfect with lots of storage to keep the room tidy.  It’s a small space, but shows that you can still make it very useable as a home office.
  • The colour palette is very nice with the soft blue greys that are warmed by the textured brown wallpaper and lovely timber accents.  The addition of the table lamp makes the room very cosy too.  A great place to work or even just to pay the bills.

My favourite kitchen

Why I love this kitchen

  • There are so many elements that I love here and they all add up to the perfect kitchen.
  • Firstly, I love the stone that has been used.  The vein is a black/brown colour which makes it warm, even though it is essentially black and white.
  • I really like the door profile on the cabinetry which is a contemporary version of the traditional Shaker style.  The black handles tie in the stone and the window colour to the scheme.
  • V groove panelling is perfect for an area of the kitchen that doesn’t get dirty, and I love the added warmth of the timber shelving and lighting which is just perfect for adding those styling touches that make the kitchen your own.
  • Notice the simple window treatment too.  A small Roman Blind in tones to work with the timber shelving is perfect.

My favourite Butler’s Pantry

Why I love this Butler’s Pantry

  • Who could not be organised with a Butler’s pantry like this one?    With a combination of banks of drawers and plenty of open shelving there is space for everything here.
  • I really like the placement of the room too with a large window offering lots of natural light.  Often Butler’s pantries have no or little natural light, so this is an absolute plus.
  • The simple herringbone flooring works well with the cabinetry and the black metal doors link perfectly to the end window.  With white panelled walls, this is simplicity at its best.

My favourite bathroom

  • Isn’t this bathroom design a breath of fresh air?  The rich green tones are absolutely stunning and a perfect partner to the gold elements and oak flooring.
  • I love the injection of colour from the vanity unit which is beautifully designed.
  • The white basket weave subway tiles are a new take on this classic design and I love the deep border of green subway tiles that are capped in white.  Just a stunning design.
  • The beautiful wallpaper, mirror, wall lamp and white shutters complete the look perfectly.

My favourite bedroom

  • The layers of texture and neutral tones are beautiful in this room.  A classic example of a calm and inviting bedroom space.
  • The colour palette of blue and green greys with white and accents of tobacco tones is perfect.
  • The heavy linen curtains with a pinch pleat heading hang in perfect folds to complete the classic look.
