As usual, and I am sure like many of you, I have been down the rabbit warren of Instagram and Pinterest and my head is full of gorgeous rooms. I have a few of my favourite rooms in January to show you, together with why I think these rooms are particularly good.
My favourite kitchen

Why I love this kitchen
- The colour palette is beautiful in this kitchen. The soft grey has just a touch of green, making it a lovely neutral pale grey which has been partnered really well with a stunning black and white marble. The styling in greens and soft terracotta work beautifully with this natural palette.
- I really like the understated door profile which is a contemporary Shaker style. The black finger pull handles are subtle, but give definition to the joinery and also link with the black veins in the marble.
- With a black wall light and range hood, the overall colour palette and styling are just perfect.
My favourite laundry room
Why I love this laundry room
- Again, it is the colour palette that I love in this room. A neutral grey green but with more greige than pure grey. This is a beautiful earthy colour that works so well with a natural palette of rattan, jute flooring and white and grey marble.
- The 10cm marble return on the benchtop is visually appealing and very practical. The V groove panelling above painted the same as the joinery also works well as it keeps the marble as the hero in the scheme.
- This is a good example of colour drenching where you use the same colour on joinery as the walls. It’s very effective for highlighting accent areas in a room and also gives a nice cohesive finish to the space.

My favourite living and dining room
What I love about this living and dining room
- Wow – what an amazing room this is. The cathedral ceiling with accent dormer windows, all painted in white with stunning dark timber beams is absolutely fabulous. At first glance this is a simple room, all painted in white, but there is fantastic attention to detail in the panelling and windows. The dark accent beams really complete the look. Imagine removing these and just having everything in white? It would still look great, but these dark beams take the room to the next level. The room is drenched with natural daylight, but yet still looks welcome and cosy.
- The oversized armchairs look comfy and relaxed and I love the throw on the back of each. Just simple, but so cohesive. The natural rug pairs nicely with the dark beams and grounds the cosy sitting area perfectly.
- I absolutely love the large dining table and chairs. And the styling is beautiful. Touches of greenery always complete a room perfectly.
My favourite bathroom
Why I love this bathroom
- Bathrooms are often very clinical. With white tiles and lots of hard surfaces, the look can be clean and simple, but often lacks warmth. This bathroom has warmth in spades. Beige has been scorned for its dullness, but I am pleased to say it is returning to our homes as people begin to appreciate its versatility again. Yes, everything painted in vanilla and beige can be pedestrian, but used correctly this gorgeous tone can really make a room feel welcoming.
- I love the bath which softens the white tiles perfectly. The warmth of the natural stone on the floor and walls makes this a very cosy and welcoming bathroom, that is not in the least bit clinical.
- The vanity unit with marble and the stunning greenery complete the look perfectly.

My favourite home office
What I love about this office
- Wouldn’t this be a great space to work in? Flooded with natural light, yet still cosy and interesting. With some lovely artworks and styling, this room is more like a living room than a utilitarian office.
- The simple pinch peat curtains hung high on a black pole above the stunning black windows is simplicity done perfectly.
- The detailing in the ceiling is very nice and I like that the cornice has been painted to match the walls rather than the ceiling. This heightens the room and brings the detailing into the bulkhead. A really beautiful office to work in.

My favourite bedroom

Why I love this bedroom
- The colour palette is perfect with a mix of whites, neutrals, soft green and just a touch of soft grey blue in the rug. The room is calm and gentle which is perfect for a bedroom space.
- Neutral rooms always benefit from layers of texture which have been introduced here with the rug and throw.
- The bed is beautiful and ties in with the desk chair perfectly.
- Notice how the skirting boards, architraves and cornice have been painted in the same grey/green? Using a dark trim is a very clever design tool as you can introduce a darker tone, while keeping the walls in a simple white.
- The relaxed linen Roman blind finishes the window perfectly. Just a gorgeous bedroom.
