When I think of Coastal Boho Style, I think about people who are relaxed and interesting individuals with a story to tell. People who take care of themselves, exercise each morning, care about nutrition and their environment. They like pretty things, hence the gorgeous flowing dresses and tops that you see in Bohemian style fashion stores. They frequent a local artisan coffee shop and their houses are eclectic with layers of appeal and quirky accents. Team this up with the classic Coastal look and you have a gorgeous individual style.⁣

Traditionally, internal trim and doors are painted in a lighter colour than the walls. However, you get quite a different look and feel to your house if you paint the internal doors, architraves, skirting boards and any wainscoting in a darker tone. This is a very effective way of using a light paint on the walls without the look being too one dimensional. ⁣

All white homes make a great statement and for many styles, this is the only option that looks right. However, if you are partial to more of a country or transitional style, then you might like to consider mixing things up a little. I have lots more to tell you about this over on my blog.⁣

I do love a slip cover sofa. First and foremost so that you can remove all the covers and have them dry cleaned. Some can even go in the washing machine which is even better. ⁣

I also like them because you can often purchase a set of covers in a different colour. So you can either have a spare set and change the look of the room for the winter months, or if you find a sofa you absolutely love, you can use it in another room without it looking the same throughout the house.⁣

A neutral coastal palette will rely heavily on some tonal contrasts to bring interest, but also lots of layers of texture too.⁣

Coastal interiors are often in very neutral colours; a combination of fresh white, natural linens and beige and greige tones. If you introduce a touch of dark with either a deep brown or black, you create a touch of interest so that the scheme doesn't become too one dimensional.⁣
